It is increasingly clear that the global temperature reduction goal of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, introduced at COP21 in 2015, is unlikely to be met. It is therefore imperative that the ICT industry contributes to carbon reduction initiatives.

The telecommunications industry is uniquely placed to help accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions. Most network operators and their suppliers are already acting, with many adopting aggressive goals to reduce carbon emissions. However, as an industry, WE MUST DO MORE!

TM Forum recognizes the challenges our industry faces, and Huawei is pleased to be a founding member of the new “Going for Green” collaboration project being introduced under the “People and Planet” domain. The overall aim of this project is to help our industry minimize our carbon footprint and that of our customers, to the maximum extent possible while meeting our service obligations.

At this DTW lunch briefing, join other experts from across our industry to share thoughts on what the precise aims of this project should be, what activities should we address, and what should be the priority?
